Hey Folks,
Several people have left comments saying that I’m being a little too hard on the movie “Prometheus” (even though far more people have left comments saying they agree with me). I just wanted to make it clear that, while I definitely and emphatically did not enjoy the movie, the arrogance and hyperbole that I demonstrate in my remarks about that film are just to elicit conversation, which has been a tremendous success. I have gotten TONS of replies to those “Prometheus” posts, and that’s kind of what I need right now. So I hope I haven’t offended anyone. I just want everyone to know that my personality is never intended to seem “dickish” and I’m never implying that everyone has to agree with my observations. I’m just thrilled that you all came by and ate my lasagna. It may not be to everyone’s tastes, but you’re all welcome to sample it and tell me how I can tweak my recipe.
Sorry, I’m really hungry as I’m writing this. It was only a matter of time before the conversation turned to food. Now I’m going out into the world in search of lasagna.
Thanks,
Sean
Que pasa tio!
I don’t think you need to apologise, you certainly didn’t come across as a jerk (unlike Holloway to David!)
Prometheus seems to have divided the fanboys into 2 camps: i) those that view Prometheus as a philosophy probing existential work of soul-searching genius, and ii) those that consider it a plot-hole ravaged carcass masquerading as a work of beauty. As I said in a previous article on the matter- in space, it seems, there is no middle ground from where people can hear you scream!
Many people were disappointed because of the aggressive marketing campaign and the trailers- they made it look like it was going to be an absolute cracker and potential masterpiece. Expectations were so high that even if the movie came out and solved the Israel/ Palestine debacle and ended world hunger people would STILL have been disappointed!
Many points you raised were valid. Though I think there was lots to enjoy in this movie.

I appreciate it (the not being a jerk comment)! As much as I hated “Prometheus”, I have to remind myself that the movie was not part of some elaborate scheme by Damon Lindelof to piss me off. I’m sure he thought he was making a movie and I’m sure that simply the whole movie-making process added extra constraint and limitations that I can’t appreciate. I loathed that movie, but I also know how I would feel if someone tore apart one of my books like that. I like to think that I’m very rarely critical, but when I do become critical, I usually go Incredible Hulk on it and become WAY TOO critical. It was far from a perfect movie, but I’m pretty sure no amount of sarcasm on my part is going to fix it.
Hey Sean,
I am conducting a Pro-metheus/ Anti-metheus debate at my site prior to writing an article. Can you leave your feedback sir as I value your educated POV.

Happy to give you shout-out on Twitter.
Cheers amigo,

You’re allowed your opinions. I’ll just one of my kids left the movie with a migraine – was it the movie or the long day we had? I say the movie.
